Now that I'm 55+

I am firmly in my 60’s and at an age that seemed ancient to me when I was a kid. My hair is thinning, I wear glasses to read, my wife says I have a hearing loss (at least that’s what I think she said). My left ankle clicks at night once or twice when I get up to pee, I have a pill organizer and struggle with diabetes on a daily basis. That said, my blood pressure is perfect, my sugars (diabetes) are under control (pharmaceutically aided), cholesterol is perfect and I am in great shape. I work out daily, play tennis and pickleball, hike and go for long bike rides. I feel great and am as active as I have ever been, it’s different than when I was young but I still feel great. I believe age is a number that denotes your years of experience not how you should feel. I am Older Not Old. I proudly wear my Older Not Old apparel when I am out and welcome the smiles I receive when people see the text. The slogan has started lots of conversations and I hope it has given people the impetus to begin a more active lifestyle. I truly believe that one gets older but doesn’t have to get old. Stay active.
